The early-1900's hay barn renovation into an art studio adds to the overall improvements (including the guest house and winery piazza) of a 10.5-acre historic estate. Carefully inserted into the original terra cotta and wood truss barn, features such as a steel-frame mezzanine with spiral stair, wall and ceiling insulation, a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, and north-facing skylights transform the space without diminishing the barn's original qualities. The restoration of the building's exterior follows the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
