Repurposing a 1,580 square-foot rural milking barn into a weekend get-away reflects this family-of-five's commitment to sustainability and the protection of existing farmland from development. An originally cramped and dark interior expands with milking parlor removal, window enlargement, open stair and dormer additions, and direct access to a new covered back porch. Sustainable features include a tankless water heater, rain barrels for roof water harvesting, and an efficient Morsø wood stove.
