As a business owner and resident in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles (2011-2015), Jennifer Charles served as a member of the Vision Plan Sub-Committee of the Land Use Committee of the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council (SONC). This sub-committee, chaired by architect Jeffrey M. Kalban, actively addresses areas of potential improvement in Sherman Oaks including traffic, parking, streetscape, and the LA river through research and documentation. Jennifer and fellow committee member Jackie Diamond’s analysis of the pedestrian experience along Ventura Boulevard and recommendations for crosswalk and planting improvements to increase the walkability of the boulevard are included in the sub-committee’s draft Vision document.
